An interview with Counselor & Coach Nicole Lohmann:

Nicole Lohmann talks about her coaching philosophy, the biggest challenges for her clients and how she boosts their lasting success.

How would you describe yourself and your Coaching?

As long as I can remember, it has always been exciting for me to take a look behind the curtains. One of my particular strengths is to quickly find the core of a topic and to steer it into solution-oriented paths.

It is very important to me to strive for an implementation that is suitable for the everyday use of my clients. Everyone is different and so they need different approaches.

I have decades of practical experience which helps me a lot in my work. Helping my clients is absolute fulfillment and joy for me.

What is your philosophy and understanding of Coaching?

My philosophy is explained in one sentence:

I am deeply convinced that every problem already contains the solution.

For me, coaching means supporting the natural processes of life. In my opinion, this is effective and useful for everyone. Everyone has their very own abilities and can use them to support others or change things.

For me, an idea of peace means that everyone can live their abilities. So we can all support each other and everyone does what they do best. I would like to contribute to this idea with my work.

Let’s take a look behind the scenes: How does a typical coaching and counseling process look like?

In the first session with a client / or clients, we start to examine all the topics that are involved. What comes first – what is the biggest challenge?

Then we are trying to find out what’s the desired outcome in this situation – in which direction should we be going?
The next step is to work out which skills can be used to facilitate this path. Which resources are available to the client?

In stressful situations, it is usually the case that we forget our suitable and existing skills. One of my tasks as a coach and counselor is to show clients what they can already do and which resources they have.

In your opinion, what challenges arise if clients are coached only in sessions without being supported between them?

The biggest challenge clients face is putting what they have learned into action. You could compare it to an an athlete: One cannot immediately expect to achieve top performance.

Succeeding in the long-term includes sticking to the plan and practicing. And of course, days when things are not going so well are part of it.
“Whoever wins often and loses often becomes a master”.

Why did you decide to use CleverMemo?

CleverMemo is a wonderful tool to stay on track between sessions.

Both the client and I recognize what they have taken away from a coaching session and at which points the implementation work well.

How exactly do you use CleverMemo in your everyday life as a coach and counselor?

I mainly use CleverMemo with my smartphone. Therefore it can be used very well in everyday life, no matter where I am, which is very important to me.

The possibility to create journal entries and notes is indispensable for me. In my opinion, allowing clients to observe what they experience and encounter during the day is a real booster for their success. They become aware of what can and cannot be changed.

How has your daily work changed through the use of CleverMemo and how does it influence sustainability?

Depending on the daily routine, it has become a habit for me to take the time to read or answer the client’s entries. The sustainability and utility of CleverMemo is clearly noticeable.

The more clients practice and grapple with their process, the clearer the result, the more visible the progress.

In your opinion, what are the greatest benefits for yourself working with CleverMemo?

When working with CleverMemo, I see the greatest benefit in the fact that the client’s goal is achieved step by step.

The necessary intermediate steps/milestones become visible and therefore consciously integrated. Coaching is not about short-term successes, but about long-term understanding by repeating the same observations. And that’s where the software really enhances the process.
